The T-16 Skyhopper from Star Wars might just be one of my favorite ships. It has a sleek beat-up look that makes it so iconic! First seen in Star Wars “A New Hope” when Luke Skywalker was playing with a model of it and describing to the Rebel Alliance on how he shot womprats with his own T-16. It was a type of airspeeder with a decent speed and was used for races on Tatooine (a planet in Star Wars). The Skyhopper did originate in Tatooine after all!
One day I was looking on Amazon for a good LEGO set at a reasonable price, when I found a 100$ Skyhopper! It has cool movable wings with a turret and a high crest at the top of the ship! I thought it looked amazing! But of course the price had a major part in the discussion with my parents on buying it. Then my mom said
“but it looks like such a simple LEGO set! You can build it yourself!”
I tried to reason with her and defend the LEGO saying it is not simple and is a work of art, but she stood firmly on me trying to build it. So I did and it was not easy finding the right pieces! I used online instructions and modified some mechanisms of the ship mainly the wings that could move. In the end…It came out great looking like the actual LEGO! Sure it didn’t have the same colored bricks as the set itself but it looked the same! I was proud of myself.
