LEGO Star Wars Rebels “The Phantom” MOC

After finishing the Star Wars Rebels series I saw many new ships I have never seen before. One in particular, the “Phantom”. The Phantom was a ship that was a part of the larger ship the “Ghost”. Both ships were shown throughout the show. The Phantom could be easily deployed by the Ghost. It was a simple small ship that I liked. It had two front laser cannons and one on the top. Featuring and openable entrance in the back, an astromech hold, extendable wings, and a nice small interior. While seeing the Phantom appearing so many times in Star Wars Rebels I decided to make my own LEGO MOC of it (after of course seeing that it was quite expensive. I watched the show three years after it came out so all the LEGO sets had grown in value). The end result was amazing! It looked uncanny to the real thing with my own modifications like an engine looking part I used from the LEGO Mindstorms NXT 2.0 robotics kit. It featured the extendable wings, opening cockpit, twin laser cannons, and the back openable entrance way. I really liked this build because it was not that hard, I could visualize all the pieces I wanted and how they would come together to make such a cool starfighter.

LEGO MOC Clone Scout Walker (AT-RT)

The clone scout walker or the AT-RT (All-terrain recon-transport) was used in the Clone Wars in Star Wars. It walked on two legs and was equipped with a laser cannon in the front. A very lightweight vehicle making an appearance in the Clone Wars animated TV show. I looked on Amazon again to find the LEGO version of this walker BUT this time I solely wanted to build it myself instead of resorting to making it if my parents said “No”.

I built it using LEGO Bionicle legs for the legs of the AT-RT. I equipped with two front cannons. For the sides of the “cockpit” I put various smooth LEGO pieces and two vent-looking pieces for added accessories to make the walker look cool. You could put a figure in there nice and snug and direct the figure’s hands to the “controls”. Finally I put the short and long antennae in the back. The walker came out looking great with the cool very articulated Bionicle legs. I could make it stand in battle position! Like usual it was multicolored but resembling the real AT-RT LEGO very much. Every piece and movable parts were my own creativity.

Boba Fett’s Slave 1

IMO, this LEGO MOC is the best one I have ever done! I have always loved this ship as seen in “Star Wars the Empire Strikes Back”, when Boba Fett tracks the Millenium Falcon and when Fett leaves Cloud City with Han Solo in carbonite in the cargo hold aboard Slave 1. Slave 1 also appeared in “Attack of the Clones” when Jango Fett (Boba’s father) was battling Obi Wan Kenobi in space and on planet Kamino. The ship was now in Boba’s possession after the death of his father (Jango Fett) on Geonisis. It has an unusual design but is very cool nevertheless. Featuring twin laser cannons, opening cockpit, cargo hold, proton torpedoes, tractor beam, seismic charges, concussion missile launchers, and an ion cannon.

This MOC’s story started (again) with me surfing Amazon for a LEGO Slave 1 ship. Of course all of them were quite expensive, and so I resorted to building my own. This time I asked my mom if she would like to help, she said yes and we made a great team! I would tell her the piece I want and she would dig through my random LEGO pieces box to find it, and I would be the builder. Along the way I encountered many pieces I did not have so that’s where I put my own creative twists to them like my own version of an openable cargo bay where you can fit Solo. I really liked the end result! It looked like a multi-colored Slave 1! Mine was not equipped with all of the weapons the ship actually has but mine has the basic twin blaster cannons, which was shown in the actual LEGO.

The Famous LEGO MOC T-16 Skyhopper

The T-16 Skyhopper from Star Wars might just be one of my favorite ships. It has a sleek beat-up look that makes it so iconic! First seen in Star Wars “A New Hope” when Luke Skywalker was playing with a model of it and describing to the Rebel Alliance on how he shot womprats with his own T-16. It was a type of airspeeder with a decent speed and was used for races on Tatooine (a planet in Star Wars). The Skyhopper did originate in Tatooine after all!

One day I was looking on Amazon for a good LEGO set at a reasonable price, when I found a 100$ Skyhopper! It has cool movable wings with a turret and a high crest at the top of the ship! I thought it looked amazing! But of course the price had a major part in the discussion with my parents on buying it. Then my mom said

“but it looks like such a simple LEGO set! You can build it yourself!”

I tried to reason with her and defend the LEGO saying it is not simple and is a work of art, but she stood firmly on me trying to build it. So I did and it was not easy finding the right pieces! I used online instructions and modified some mechanisms of the ship mainly the wings that could move. In the end…It came out great looking like the actual LEGO! Sure it didn’t have the same colored bricks as the set itself but it looked the same! I was proud of myself.

My Interest in DIYs

Now you may be asking yourself, why DIYs? My interest in making things has been up and running for as long as i can remember. I always wanted to make cool gadgets from movies I have seen, and also various lego sets I wanted but couldn’t always get. Star Wars has always been the center of all my DIYs, from lightsabers to blasters to a lego MOC (my own creation) Boba Fett Slave 1 which i built out of various random multi colored pieces from my lego bucket. I made Hans Solo’s blaster pistol with cardboard and so on.. I could get lost in that bucket of old broken lego set pieces and random bricks! Anyway stay tuned, I will post my DIY projects soon !

Hello There !

Hello Interneters! I am Arin Iyer and is in the 6th grade!  I have been building crafts, movie props, and MOC (my own creation) LEGOs for decades! Many of my LEGO creations are Star Wars battle ships and laser turrets.  Some of my other interests are Star Wars, playing basketball, soccer, ping pong, LEGOs, I like watching football but I do not play it. Many of these blog posts will be about all the crafts and DIYs (Do it yourself) I like to do as a hobby. Thank you! May the force of the cursor on the mouse be with you!
